Needles to state of the Philippines is far different from the Philippines we have knows 20 years ago. The garbage problem in urban areas, particularly in Metro Manila, increases the risk of water-borne diseases among the population; the destruction of our coral reefs and mangrove swamps threatened our good supply, and while the loss of our forests imperils both our air and water supply. The consequences of this environment degradation strongly affect the ecological, biological, Physical, political, economical, emotional, physiological, and most importantly the spiritual dimensions of our society, All of this point to an urgent need for change, the issue at hand being nothing less than the survival of our land.

It is along this context that education plays a very vital and crucial role. It is one of the best venues for shaping the values, attitudes, and character of the learners towards environmental care and protection. The learner’s education nowadays requires a holistic approach covering both the academic and non – academic aspects of growth with environmentally responsible behavior as one of the learning competencies to be developed among the learners.
